Position Description:
  • Provide technical expertise in the design, integration, documentation, and deployment of systems for our customers in HF radio communications, radar, data systems and other general electronic systems. 
  • Provide direct (hands on) assistance with the installation, commissioning and after sale support of customer purchased systems. This is accomplished through both individual contributions and the support of the entire Company.
  • Works with the Director of Business Development, customer or end-user(s), factory engineering, and Production to support the pre-sale activity, proposal generation, design, technical project direction, deployment,  installation of communications systems involving HF. 
  • The position will work administratively and functionally with the Sales and Engineer dept for all other tasking. 
  • Direct and supervise project personnel including subordinate engineers and engineering technicians.
  • Installation locations may include domestic and foreign venues in various climatic and political conditions.  This is primarily a technical leadership position with travel.
  • Assumes directed responsibility for all technical specifications, technical content, and project design.  Customarily works with minimal supervision & direction.
  • Must have a strong knowledge and interest in radio communications and RF technology.
  • Schedules staff and subcontractors to accomplish technical work consistent with customer needs and company direction.
  • Takes an active role in specifying field equipment, and recommending outside vendors/subcontractors.
  • Supervises and/or performs overall technical management, design, integration and test.
  • Provides input to the Program Manager and/or project manager to assist with overall customer goals, requirements and ad-hoc technical needs.
 
Extensive domestic and international travel is required in support of sales and supervision of field activities, resolving issues and assuring customer satisfaction.
Required Experience
  • At least 7+ years industry and / or military experience
  • Must have a broad general familiarity with electronics and radio communications systems, specifically HF radio, radar, ATC equipment, associated sub-systems, antennas, transmission lines and data systems.
  • Must have experience preparing bids, proposals, customer estimates, including performing research on available vendors.
  • Experience generating system designs/documentation and subsequent detailed designs
  • Experience developing detailed field equipment lists
  • Experience Developing schedules and logistics details for field work
  • Must have field installation and/or service experience with communications equipment.
  • Must have experience with field installations, working with local contractors, permitting, local politics, job acceptance procedures.
  • Must have a demonstrated track record of completed electronics projects with contract values about $2 MM / project, preferably international in scope.
  • Proficiency with MS-Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint , VISIO & MS Project).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and work well under pressure in the field and against deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills in a team environment.
  • GROL (FCC General Radio Operator License) and/or amateur radio license. (desirable)
  • Status as a Registered Professional Engineer or ability to be registered (desirable)
  • Must have or be able to obtain and keep a passport for travel internationally (required)
  • Must not have any medical limitations preventing the use & exposure to typical chemicals utilized in field installation activity.  Examples include, solder, flux, cleaning solutions, and paint.
  • Must have sufficient physical agility to perform site survey work in the field under many different conditions.  Must be able to work indoors, outdoors, and in various geographical conditions.]
 
Educational Requirements
  • Bachelors’ degree in a technical related field
 
 
Security Clearance
  • Not currently required, but must be clearable
